Blockchain: Is a so-called “real time” tax compliance possible?

Prof. Dr. Peter Fettke and Prof. Dr. Robert Risse, the Head of Finance Tax & Trade Group of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA and honorary professor at the University of Leipzig, have written an article entitled “Blockchain: Is a so-called “real time” tax compliance possible?” The article is published in the magazine “Der Betrieb” (DB from 27.07.2018, issue 30, page 1748 – 1755, DB1272978).
The so-called blockchain technology is a new instrument in the field of the use of technologies in tax law. It not only supports work in the tax field in terms of securing and verifying tax issues, it can also offer and ensure new cooperative tax compliance. On the basis of the examples from the VAT area, the article clarifies what concrete implementation possibilities could look like.
